Revelation pt.3

We have been talking about revelation from God.  We all need fresh revelation from God and when we get revelation from God it promotes certain things in our lives.  We have talked about how revelation will promote a deeper relationship with God also it will provoke us to action as well.  The next thing that revelation will do for us is that it will promote a validity of God’s Word.

The Bible is true, and we need to spend time reading God’s Word.  The older I get the more precious the Word of God becomes to me.  The Word of God is not boring if you know the author.  We need to be like Job.

Job 23:12 I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.

Or we could also remember the words of Jesus.

Matt.4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Revelation pt.1

The next couple of blogs we will look at five different things that happen when we get a revelation form God.

The first thing it will do is promote a deeper relationship with God.

Eph.1:17   that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

When we see God or get a revelation of God, we will want to know more about God and it will change our perspective of how we look at our lives and help us focus on the holiness of God and what we can do for Him.

Isa.6:1-7  In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.  Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.   And one cried to another and said “ Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;  The whole earth is full of His glory!”   And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.  So I said: “ Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.”   Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.   And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “ Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.”   Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

He did not start judging others, he looked at himself.  We have to learn to take care of ourselves before we can start to help others.  We need a revelation of God everyday that makes us want to live a holy and upright life.  A life that wants to share the good news of God.

OMG!

If you have a cell phone, then the chances are good that you have texted, and if you have texted then you know that texting has a language all its own.  One of the most popular texts is OMG.  Which usually means Oh My God.

The definition of Oh is an exclamation of surprise, fear, pain, ect.

Ps.77:11  I will remember the works of the LORD;  Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
Ps.77:14  You are the God who does wonders;  You have declared Your strength among the peoples.
Ps.139:14  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  Marvelous are Your works,  And that my soul knows very well.

My, in other words He is My God, and My God is the Healer, He is the Provider, He is My Banner, He is My Peace, He is My Shepherd, He is always there.

Ps.46:1  God is our refuge and strength,  A very present help in trouble.

And of course He is God.  He is the righteous judge and the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Ps.9:8   He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.
Rev.17:14  These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

So next time you text or receive a text, think about what OMG means to you.

things are changing

Jesus said through out the gospels “he who has an ear to hear let him hear”.   It really doesn’t take much spiritual awareness to know that things are changing, but if we will hear the voice of God we will be able to adapt to the coming changes that are coming in our lives, ministry, churches and the world.  It is a time when the wind of the Spirit is blowing and when that happens things change.

Num.11:31 Now a wind went out from the LORD and drove quail in from the sea. It brought them down all around the camp to about three feet above the ground, as far as a day's walk in any direction.

Wind is unseen, but we can see the effects of the wind.  The wind, the force of the wind changes things.  It can shift our leaves or level our house.  When the winds of heaven begin to blow things begin to change.

Gen.8:1  But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

Acts 2:2  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Things shift in the spiritual realm first and then we see them in the natural realm.  The winds of heaven are blowing and new seasons are coming, changes are taking place.

Change = to cause to turn or to pass from one state to another. To shift, to be altered. The beginning of something new.

Season = A fit or suitable time, an appointed time. A time distinguished from all others. New seasons often bring new opportunities.

Let the wind of God blow and embrace the new seasons and changes that the Lord is bringing into your lives, churches, and ministries.

Perfect Peace

Isa.26:3  You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You ,Because he trusts in You.

We have a promise from God that if our minds will stay focused on Him;  He will keep us in “perfect” peace.  God is perfect in fact David says it this way.   Psalm 18:30  As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

The way of God is perfect. There are all kinds of ways you can live your life, but God’s ways are perfect and if we will keep our minds focused on Him, we will have perfect “peace.”

Peace from Strongs Concordance says this:  peace is an intact state of favorable circumstances.  (8934)

That is what I want, favorable circumstances in my life and the only way is to constantly revolve my life and thoughts on HIM.

A dear pastor friend of ours would sing this song that came to mind as I was writing this blog today.

I've got peace like a river
I've got peace like a river
Peace like a river in my soul
And it flows like a river
And it flows like a river
Flows like a river in my soul

Here am I. Send me!

Judges 6:14  The LORD turned to him and said,  "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand.  Am I not sending you?"
Isa.6:8  Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,  "Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?"  And I said,  "Here am I. Send me!"

Maybe you are like me and have prayed this prayer before?  God, I believe you for divine connections, divine appointments and divine contacts to come into my life.  Sound familiar?  Let me be honest with you, I was praying that for my benefit.  How about you?

Then I heard someone say maybe you are that person’s divine connection or divine appointment or maybe you are that person’s divine contact, and that changed my perspective, how selfish I had been.

We need to be so full of the Holy Spirit that when we come into contact with people that we are there divine connection, appointment or contact.  Yes, we still need divine connections and appointments and contacts in our lives, but my lightning fast mind finally figured out it works both ways.

God help me to be someone’s divine connection, appointment or contact.

Let the weak say I am strong

Joel 3:10  Beat your plowshares into swords  And your pruning hooks into spears;  Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’

Confession of the Word of God is a way we build our faith, but if you are like me, there are times that I don’t feel strong.  When we are facing situations that are over whelming or you don’t have a clue as to what to do; this is when we should confess that we are strong.

Remember Gideon?  (Judges 6)  He was facing a situation that seemed over whelming, but when the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon he said, “the Lord is with you mighty warrior.” (v.12)   Even though Gideon felt small and weak, the Lord said he was a mighty warrior.

I like what Paul said in 2Cor. 12:10.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.

When we are at our weakest, God is at His strongest. “Let the weak say I am strong”.

Open my eyes

2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

You have probably sung the popular worship song “Open The Eyes Of My Heart Lord”.

In 2 Kings 6:17, the enemy surrounded Elisha and his servant.  Maybe that is how you feel. Maybe you feel like the enemy has surrounded you on every side.  You don’t know what you are going to do.  Maybe you have tried everything and nothing has worked thus far.

I know how you feel; I have been there myself, but in reality God is in control.  He has everything handled; we just need to have the Lord open our eyes.  The Bible declares in 1John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

The Greater One lives in us and we are surrounded by a host of angels.  God is in control, you are not surrounded by the enemy and problems; the enemy and problems are surrounded. Open our eyes Lord!

Now show me your glory

Ex 33:18 Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory.”

Ex.33:21-23 Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen."

How close can you get to God?  In this chapter God had told Moses that He would send an angel to lead them to the Promised Land, but that wasn’t good enough for Moses.  Moses told God that if your presence doesn’t go with us then don’t send us.  That is important in everything we do.  We need God’s Presence in every area of our lives.

But then Moses asks another question.  He wanted to see God’s glory.  What a request, how about you, do you want to see God’s glory?  God responded by saying “there is a place near me”.  In essence God says when you get to that place you will see My glory.  How close are you to God?  There is a place near Him that we can get to.  That is if you want to se His Glory.

What's your choice?

John 14:6  Jesus answered,  "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me."

I used this verse in my last blog.  It is a verse that causes much controversy because so many people want to go another way or take another route to get to the Father.  But Jesus is the only way.  I have never been one for political correctness and I really don’t think Jesus was a politically correct guy as well.  In fact in Matt.10:34 He said this:

Matt.10:34  "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.  I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

A sword divides and so does the gospel of Jesus.  It forces you to make a decision.  In a world where we are supposed to be tolerant of everyone’s beliefs or religion, Jesus forces you to make a choice.  It is funny that you can mention other religions or religious persons, but as soon as you mention the name of Jesus everyone gets nervous.  Jesus doesn’t choose sides.  He came so you can make a choice.

Joshua 5:13-14  Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand.   Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"  14  "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come."  Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him,  "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"

Truth = Free

Pro.23:23  Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.

How important is truth? Here the Word of God tells us to buy the truth and not to sell it. In other words we are to do all we can to seek after the truth. We live in a world today where people tell you a half-truth or they tell you what they think you want to hear. But we need the truth and we need the whole truth.

John 18:38  "What is truth?" Pilate asked.

Jesus said it this way.  John 1:14  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 17:7  Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

Jesus is the TRUTH.  We must seek HIM and never sell out for anything else.  All truth is in Jesus.  What can the real truth do for you?

John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

The truth will set you free.  Seek the truth and be free from everything else.
