Who are your friends?

Jer. 38:7  When Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, a eunuch who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern—the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate.
(read the entire passage- Jer. 38: 1-13)

Who are your friends? H ave you ever stood up for something or did the right thing and everybody turned against you?  That is what Jeremiah did and found himself in deep trouble.  He was arrested and put into a cistern.  He was sinking deeper and deeper in the mud.  Have you ever been in such a place?

One person came to Jeremiah’s rescue.  And it was probably someone he didn’t even know.  He was a person from another culture another race and totally different from Jeremiah.  But yet Ebed-Melech came to Jeremiah’s rescue.

Sometimes we really never know who are friends are until we are in trouble.  And sometimes they can come from people we don’t even know.  We don’t know how Jeremiah might of influenced Ebed-Melech’s life, but somehow he did.  And when the time came for Ebed-Melech to show his friendship; he did at just the right time and helped rescue Jeremiah out of certain death.  So, you never know whom you are influencing.  You may be the one to rescue someone from certain death.  Or, someone you have never known before, an unlikely friend, may be the one to rescue you.
